Being its name in Yucatec Mayan language translated into Spanish as black jaguar o jaguar star, Ek Balam was a Mayan city that promoted technical and cultural advances, as well as architectural and decorative richness, being one of the last archaeological sites discovered in the Yucatan Peninsula, it is perhaps one of the most important Mayan ruins ever found.

Ek Balam is a Mayan archaeological site located at Yucatán, located north of the city of Valladolid. This is composed of several temples, two huge palaces and a large pyramid in the center of the city where the central part is surrounded by two walls, which is unusual.
